  61. Welcome to Backup Fugue for DOS, the Premier backup program for PCs!
  62.  
  63. Power failures, hardware or software problems, or user mistakes can all
  64. result in data loss. Knowing you have an up to date backup means you can
  65. get things up and running normally in a short space of time.
  66.  
  67. Until now, keeping a backup up to date meant juggling with in increasing
  68. number of backup sets, while restoring files meant restoring obsolete
  69. copies of files from older backup sets just so you go on to restore from
  70. the later backup set.
  71.  
  72. With Backup Fugue, all this has changed. You take a full backup only
  73. once. After that, Backup Fugue backs up only files which have changed.
  74. All files are written to the one backup set, making it easy to find them
  75. later. You can keep multiple versions of files if you desire, and
  76. obsolete files are deleted from the backup and the space reused.

  78. Browse the Backup Master Index tree to see what is on your backup. Fine
  79. tune the selection process by masking out files, or even mark individual
  80. files to be excluded or included!

  82. Backup Fugue uses compression to save space on the backup. The
  83. compression uses industry standard methods, and achieves both high
  84. compression ratios and speed.

  86. Backup Fugue can handle any number of hard disks, and any size hard disk
  87. (subject to memory constraints). The backup destination can be any size
  88. removable disk, including Syquest and Bernouli removable hard disks. The
  89. program can also backup across networks.

  92. BACKUP FUGUE QUICK START GUIDE

  94. To enable you to start backing up in the minimum time possible, refer to
  95. the file BUQUICK.DOC which will guide you through setting up and taking a
  96. backup. There is also a section describing how to restore your data if
  97. necessary.

  99. For those of you who don't want to read even that file, assuming you
  100. want to backup your hard disk C:

  102. If you have a 286 or better, type in:

  141. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  143. As issued by Fugue Software, the disk is self installing:
  144. Place the disk in drive A: or B:, and make that the default drive by
  145. typing on A: or B: and pressing Enter.
  146.  
  147. Type in INSTALL.
  148.  
  149. Select the destination drive letter and directory to install into, press
  150. Enter, and the program will be installed automatically.
  151.  
  152.  BBS Files

  154.  If you have the BBS version of Backup Fugue, then all you received was
  155.  the file BUPRO.ZIP or BUPRO.EXE, and all the files have been
  156.  archived into this file. In this case you need to extract all the
  157.  files to either your hard disk or your floppy disk before you can
  158.  run SETUP:
  159.  
  160.  From DOS, make a new directory for the program. Then copy the file
  161.  to your hard disk and extract the files:
  162.

  167.  Once you have extracted all the files, you can delete the BUPRO archive
  168.  file from your hard disk.

  176. Shareware is an exciting marketing method which allows you to try top
  177. quality software before you pay the author. With shareware, you cannot be
  178. disappointed spending money for a program that's not right for you.  The

  182. If your copy of Backup Fugue didn't come with a printed manual, then you
  183. have the shareware version.  If you continue the use the shareware
  184. program after a reasonable evaluation period (we allow 42 days) you must
  185. register the program by sending Fugue Software the registration fee

  187. on the registration fee. If you have a local agent, they will have
  188. modified the ORDER.FRM file to reflect local prices.

  190. This payment entitles you to technical support, printed manual, bonus
  191. programs and more.  Your payment supports the authors, allowing us to
  192. continue writing newer and better shareware programs.

  196. programs are shareware, and informed that they are required to pay the

  317.        to Fugue Software, 1988, 1994, and are protected by Australian
  318.        and international copyright law. In the rest of this document,
  319.        this collection of programs is referred to simply as "Backup
  320.        Fugue". You are granted a license to use your copy of
  321.        Backup Fugue only under the terms and conditions specified in
  322.        this license agreement.

  324.        (2) Use of One Copy on Two Computers: If you have a copy of
  325.        Backup Fugue which is licensed for use on a single computer, you
  326.        may install it on two computers used at two different locations

  329.        time, and provided that you yourself have purchased Backup Fugue,
  330.        or if Backup Fugue was purchased by your employer, that you have
